There were more thrills and surprises in round 3 of the G H Motorcycles/Husqvarna/ACU Eastern Solo Enduro Championship last Sunday at Foxborough Quarry Hare and Hounds Sible Hedingham Essex organised by the Sudbury Motor Cycle Club. Joe PhillipsFirst away in the three hour marathon were the Championship Class led by Brendon Mayers Halstead) who held onto his lead for two laps being chased by Jason Morland (Halstead) and Craig Roper (Sudbury). However Morland on lap three took the lead and a little later Roper slipped into second place. Over the rest of the three hours Morland settled into a steady rhythm but behind him were several changes of positions with Tim Rose (Diss), Ben Clark (Halstead) and Sam Mitchell (Woodbridge) putting pressure on Roper and Mayers. Morland was uncatchable on the day the only person who would challenged him was Jamie Roper who after his accident at round two is out of the Contest for the year after his operation of his upper left arm. At the chequered flag Morland was a clear winner on 26 laps by 1 minute 24 seconds over Rose with Clark 3rd, Roper 4th, and Mitchell 5th. Bocking 2 Man 9-4-17

A glorious sunny day greeted the competitors for the first round of the Dave Barkshire Motorcycles Two Man Championship with temperatures soaring to 26C in the afternoon. This is the first time a Two Man event was run at Strait Mill Bocking by the Sudbury Motor Cycle Club who were rewarded with a full entry. There was hot competition in the Championship Class throughout the morning and afternoon sessions with the lead changing constantly right to the end. The Roper brothers Rick and Jamie (both Sudbury) edged the win on 45.83 laps just .16 of a lap ahead of Sam Mitchell (Woodbridge) and Brendan Mayers (Halstead). The pairing of Harvey Mutten and Toby Morley (both Woodbridge) 3rd on 43.67 laps, Braintree pairing Will Hughes/James Yearley 4th on 41.00 laps, Steve Roper/Adam Norton (both Sudbury) 5th on 39.00 laps and Will Kerry (Woodbridge)/Chris Hockey (Sudbury) 6th on 37.5 laps....

Foxborough Report 05-03-17

Several obstacles were overcome by the Organisers and Riders at the Annual Foxborough Endurothon at Sible Hedingham. On Saturday morning the work party to set up the course was greeted with running muddy water coming down the access road. They were not deterred they set up the course then rain came making the parking and paddock very difficult to negotiate which could mean the event is cancelled but the Sudbury Motor Cycle Club’s Motto is “We don’t do Cancel”. A phone call to Steve Finch of G & B Aggregates saw over a period of three hours three Lorries arrived with earth plus a Roller to make an earth road which held up on Sunday’s race day. Thirty minutes before the start of the five hour marathon the rain came making the course even muddier and wetter but three hours later the rain stopped and at times the sun shone. The damage was done the riders found the going very difficult and challenging, of the 36 teams started only 21 finished while in the Ironman Class only 8 finished out of 34....

Extreme Enduro 2-1-2017

Conditions were perfect for the third Extreme Enduro at Foxborough Quarry Sible Hedingham organised by the Sudbury Motor Cycle Club, the rain the previous day didn’t have any affect and the sun shone all day. One disappointment the 2016 British Extreme Enduro Champion, Tom Elwood couldn’t make the event however the 2016 British runner up and last year’s winner Charlie Frost did and made his debut on the Active Bike Sport/Malcolm Rathmell Sport Sherco....

November and December News

Course preparations are taking place during the month of December for the third Extreme Enduro at Foxborough Quarry Sible Hedingham being organised by the Sudbury Motor Cycle Club. This time the event is on Monday 2nd January a public holiday start time 11am and runs for two hours. This will be open to spectators and more details will follow later. 2016 winner Charlie Frost from Bath is looking forward to this event....
